Linking environmental science and policy is an important component of the work at SeaTrust Institute. This involves creating awareness about valuable global and local natural resources, considering the human dimensions of environmental decision making, and contributing to building strong scientific, educational, social and financial partnerships.
SeaTrust Institute is represented by Dr. Wilson as the official NGO delegate and Focal Point in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and as an Ocean Policy Advisor in Washington State. Dr. Wilson participates in research relating to marine policy, climate change, health and coastal issues linking science and policymakers with innovations in collaborative processes for better decisions.
SeaTrust Institute contributes to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) through active participation in UN meetings and functions that support the annual COP meetings which move across 5 global regions. Delegations at these meetings participate in events, provide input to the negotiations through the Research Constituency, and create projects and partnerships for capacity building and resilience development projects. Catch a glimpse of our policy work at these meetings from the event shown below.
